Statewide GIS Outreach - 50 States Initiative
South Carolina was fortunate to be awarded a CAP Grant this year for the 50 States Initiative Program. The goal of the project is a strategic plan and business plan that we can use moving forward within the state. Click here to learn more.
Statewide LiDAR
Project The South Carolina LiDAR Consortium is currently working on a statewide LiDAR project with the assistance of federal, state and local resources. The 2008 portion of the project has been completed and planning is underway for 2009 and 2010. Click here for more information.
Orthophoto Status
South Carolina has statewide coverage of orthophotos. This data is typically (although not always) contracted by the county. Also, counties often utilize South Carolina's Geodetic Survey, during the process. Most often, when Geodetic Survey assists, it is by providing a product quality review in order to validate spatial accuracy with ground verification as well as optical quality. In addition, they have developed a template for standardized specifications when an organization is planning to have orthos flown. This template is available upon request.
Cadastral Status
A majority of South Carolina's counties have developed cadastral data. This data, like the orthophotos, is typically developed and maintained at the county level. The last year or two have seen significant increases toward completion of the remaining counties.
